Scheduled weekly scans finding viruses but not logging

  • 1.  Scheduled weekly scans finding viruses but not logging

    Hello Everyone

I am new to this forum.  We have just upgraded to Symantec 11.  We have weekly scans scheduled, and they are running as planned.  However, there are times when a virus is found, and I get an email notification telling me the scan caught it and blocked it, but when I check the logs on the local computer I do not see anything listed.  In fact it does not even log the scan (even though I watched it take place)

It seems to me anything that happened on that compuer should show in its logs... or do some things only log ont he server?  If anyone can enlighten me on what should happen please let me know.

    Thanks!
    Al

    Hi AllMcD

       Theoretically, you are perfectly right.
Thus said, could you paste the content of the notification email you are referring to so we have a better idea of what you have been notified of.

Also, keep in mind that client logs are not kept forever, the default client log retention time is 14 days.
If the client is connected to the SEPM (as seems to be the case since you received a notification), you should also be able to see the log entry in the manager (Monitors / Logs)

If the client uploaded it to the manager, it is safe to say it is on the client as well.
