  • 1.  Script for Move the clinets from different groups to one group

    Posted Sep 12, 2019 02:42 PM

    Hello All,

We have been upgrading the SEP Clients which are reporting to the SEPM Console. Most of time the server list which we are getting from the platform team for the upgrade are reporting to different groups of the SEPM Console. So it's being very difficult for us to move the clients manually from different groups to a particular group for the SEP Upgrade. After the upgrade again we have to move it back to the original location.

If someone helping me with the script to move the clients from various group to one group that would be more helpful. I am looking for quick response.

    Hello,

The MoveClient utility will do this.

It's in the NoSupport directory under the Tools folder in the 14 download.

You cannot move clients to another group by using sylink.xml if they have already been registed with the SEPM.  You can indivudally move clients by right-clicking on the client and choosing move and selecting the appropiate group.

NOTE: you can select multiple clients as described in the article below.

Another option is to use the web services API to move the clients.  Documentation can be found in the following locations:

    SEP 12.1.x

    \Tools\Integration\SEPM_WebService_SDK

    SEP 14
    \Tools\WebServicesDocumentation

Hi Arun, Why do you have to move the clients into a particular group when you can make an upgrade package into each every groups so you dont have to worry to move clients each time they upgrade.

    Hi Arun,

Another option is when you create the upgrade package just to select into the "Client Install Settings" in the package "Maintain all logs, policies, and client-server communication settings" as shown on the screenshot. This way you can use one package for all machines no matter in which group they are and after the upgrade they will remain in the same group
