    Hi,

Has anyone seen this message when going through the setup of Service Desk 7.1 beta?

The very first SMP connection test failed with what seems to be a permissions issue.

I've tried using HTTPS and HTTP....

Could you describe your environment? OS, IIS Version, App Pool setup, etc? Is the Symantec Management Console at http://localhost/altiris/console accessible from a browser? I've never encountered this error - but installing ServiceDesk to the same machine as the SMP requires extra attention.

Sorry i've since rebuilt the beta install and this time managed to installed without using SSL.

Like Ian pointed out in a earlier post, i selected SSL tick box, clicked next, then went back to the previous page and deselcted SSL which this time allowed me to go through.

I would be interested to know though, in the event that i had configured NS to use SSL, would there be an option after the install to change the certificate originally specified and/or change so that SSL is not used....or would this need to be a re-install?

gBBB, i'd beinterested in finding out the 'extra attention' when installing SD on same SMP server? SQL is still off box in my situation and is 2005 64bit

Also, does anyone at Symantec have some informal basic steps to getting SD installed?

The document we've all come to know so well now 'HOWTO31346' doesnt quite relate to Win2008. There seems to be a grey area around do we still need to enable Web Service Extentions which doesnt seem available in IIS7

I have got SD7.1 installed successfully on the same server as NS, however i had to deselect IIS classic and default application check boxes as well as NETWORK SERVICES. So essentially the only one added here was the Service Install Account as per the article HOWTO31346

Just something informal would be helpfull, would be a good start :)
