Hi all,

has anyone used the SEE IC on Altiris in order to upgrade from an old version of SEE to a newer 1?

I am trying to upgrade from version 7.0.5 to 7.0.6, but im not managing. I also not understanding how altiris will manage to run the msi installer, if SEE requires the older version to be uninstalled before installing the new version.

I have attached the current task details and package details that i am using, as well as the failed message on my agent.

Any help would be geatly appreceated.

I haven't tried with Altiris - you might want to post in that forum too. A couple of things to stand out though, first that it's trying to find the installer from C:\Temp - does it actually exist here to run?! Second, the command line you're using doesn't match the SEE documentation that specifes REINSTALL=ALL, REINSTALLMODE=vomus (see admin doc.) though again I don't know if its different on Altiris. Normally the clients wont 'upgrade' without that option.

Yes, i configured the task to push the package to c:/temp. In fact that part of the task is working, I can actually see the msi files in the c:/temp. However, I doubt that the command line is being run. The reason why i am saying this is that I am not seeing a log in the path that I am specifying (' >c:\altirisagentlog3)

I am running the following script
msiexec /i "c:\temp\Symantec Endpoint Encryption Framework Client.msi" /norestart REINSTALL=ALL > c:\altirisseelog3.txt

I will try with the 'vomus' command and post the result.

The command to install SEE worked with the vomus parameter. however the Altiris task is still failing. i keep recieving the same error that is seen in image 'agentlog.JPG ' attached

Any help would be greatly appreceated

Why don't you enable logging by the msiexec command using /log or /l* <path>?
