  • 1.  SEE Removable Storage Utility not showing files in view

    i have a machine that will not show the files that are encrypted on the CD. the files show up when i put the CD into other computers, its just this one.  the utility loads just fine, slowly, but it loads and it appears as if the disk is empty.  it isnt.   anyone else see anything like this?  

     

    i dont think it's an issue with the disc as it seems to load just fine on other machines that i have tried.

    We just tried to look at some old files that are backed up on CD/DVD. This symantec removable storage access utility does not work with Windows 10. We tried two different Win10 machines. No luck. We tried on a Win7 machine and it worked just fine. the utility does not show any of the encrypted files on Win10, but they do appear on a Win7 machine.

    I'm trying to see if there is an update for Windows10.

    What version of the softare was this CD originally encrypted with, and what are you using now?  Does your policy tell the clients to use the old Removeable Storage Encryption format, or the newer Removeable Media Encryption format?

    Note, latest version is 11.1.1MP1, required for Win10 Anniversary update

    Thank you for the note. Is there a way to get this software update? We pay another company to scan documents and archive them on CD/DVD. They then send the scanned douments to us on DVD with the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Client on the disc. Should this company be providing us the new client, or can we download it for free?

    As purely the recipient of the disc, and not the SEE license holder, you have no means of obtaining the latest version of the software from Symantec.  You'd need to speak to this external company.

    BTW, there is no version 10 of SEE, it awkwardly jumped from v8 to v11, so definitely best check with those doing the scanning for you.
