  • 1.  SEM 11 shuts down

    Hi,

        Can anyone let me know as to why that the SEM 11 (client) installed on a system turns off by itself and never turn back on. Moreover, citing the same issue, I formatted the pc twice and am still facing the problem. In both cases, it occured after a few weeks and in the second case I did not allow the user to put his data back. I asked him to put back his data after 3 weeks and the same problem accoured well before he restored his data.

    Concerned & puzzled.

     1. Try installing only Antivirus and Antispyware as there might be some driver conflict with other features of SEP client ) like network treat protection or proactive threat protection )

    2. Scan the users data on a machine with updated definitions before putting it back to the problematic machine.

    Vikram,

      There is also one more problem that I missed mentioning. The SEP 11 once it goes off, niether can I re-install or modify the installation. The only then possible soluion is that I format the system & then do it from scratch. I can't understand why this is so?

    I'm using symantec endpoint protection 11.0.5.

    Install SEP unmanged reboot it and see any difference is present...

    Please provide us some more information.

    * Operating system on the affected machine?
    * Workgroup or domain environment?
    * Mode of installation? ( login script/ local install/ classic deployment? )
    * Managed or unmanaged client?

    And also, did you check in the event viewer for any information ... if SEP goes down, it should be logged ,,, plz check.... and when you say that you are unable to do a modify or repair, I'm guessing that you are either receiving an error or the installation rolls back... In the latter case, please get us the install log.... It can be found under %temp% in the name SEP_INST.LOG

    Hello,

    I am having a similar if not the same issue. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the sepm software and it continues to do the same thing. When I check the event log under apps there is an error that says, "The Java Virtual Machine has exited with a code of 1, the service is being stopped."

    The service for embedded database is always on, but the epm service always stops. If I stop the embedded database service, the epm service will stay on fine. However then if I try to access the console it stops again.

    I'm going nuts here! Any thoughts on how I can fix this?
