OS: Win server 2000 (yes, I know!)

    SEP 11.0.7 x86

PLease see attached screenshot. When I run Liveupdate it says that all products are upto date, but the definitions are clearly showing otherwise. Proactive Threat seems ok, but AV and network threat protection are wildly out of date. What can I do please?

Defs may be corrupt, run the symhelp tool on it to see what shows up:

Rafeeq - this is a stand alone client rather than the Manager.

Brian - I followed the article regarding clearing out corrupted definitions.. I was unable to delete the folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs\20110418.018" (Cannot delete, access denied) but followed the rest of the article.

    Still no joy.

    In the logs it says:

"Symantec Endpoint Protection is unprotected","COMP","SYSTEM","System","Symantec Endpoint Protection has determined that the virus definitions are missing on this computer. This computer will remain unprotected from viruses until virus definitions are downloaded to this computer.","11/11/2014 4:30:02 PM"

"Definition File Download","SLATERCOMP","SYSTEM","Definition downloader","Download of virus definition file from LiveUpdate server failed.  00000001","11/11/2014 4:30:02 PM"

But when I run liveupdate I get no errors:

"The following Symantec products and components are installed on your computer.
    > LiveUpdate
    > Symantec Security Software

    Initializing...

Have you tried updating with the Intelligent Updater?

Thanks Brian - Intelligent Updater brought the definitions up to date. It looks like this software is a sort of "run on demand" affair - doesn't seem to have installed anything, is that right?

Does this also mean that I need to run it every day to keep the definitions up to date?

    Correct.

Ideally the client will update automatically per the schedule you set. See how it is over the next few days
