I have migrated SEP 11.0.6 from one server to another. The new server that o moves SEP had already installed WSUS. From the first time that I opened  the console, I received the message “Unable to communicate with the reporting component“ just like it is described here: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH104777the second problem is after loggin in to the console, with Home, Monitor and Reports being presented as Blank pages just like this : http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/symantec-endpoint-protection-11x-home-monitor-reports-blank

I know that there is a problem with IIS but until now I am unable to find the solution. I also tried thesewith no luck: I know that there is a problem with IIS but until now I am unable to find the solution. I also tried thesewith no luck:

Run Process Monitor and then try to log on into the SEPM

Once you have the error , stop Proc Mon and cehck accees denied

Sorry but I didn’t understand you, can you be a little bit more specific?  Where is the process monitor that I should run first?

Process Monitor is a MS tool. You can download it from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645

You can also run collectLog.cmd from C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Tools and upload the SEPM_logs.zip which will be created in the same folder once the script finishes.

    Hello,

There are few Questions which I may like to ask as you haven't either described in your Question.

    1) What was the Operating System along with service pack on the old server and what is the Operating System along with service pack on the Newer Server?

    2) What difference do you think there is between the older server and the newer server?

    3) Home, Monitor and Reports completely depends on the IIS, could you upload the IIS logs and scm-server-0.log?

    Hi,

I would suggest open a case with Symantec.

You can log a case through web portal as well.

Due to another problem of my client I currently don’t have access to both servers.I will run the process tool and upload the  log files as soon as I will have access to the servers (5-10 days).About Mithun Sanghaviquestions:

    1.       Both servers have the same OS, Windows 2003 SP2 Standard Edition x86

    2.       The old server is a dedicated desktop computer (not server, it is Dell Optiplex ….) to SEPM. The Server I have migrated SEPM to is a HP Proliant. The HP server had already installed WSUS which is using SQL express and IIS (just like SEPM does). WSUS is still working after the SEPM installation.

    3.       IIS logs will be updated in a few days when I will have again access to the servers.

    Hello,

MS SQL Express is not a supported Database by SEPM.

You can try it.. it should work, and we are supporting FULL SQL 2008 from MR5 onwards, but SQL Express is and always been unsupported.  That's because of the limitations of the product itself, if the DB hits 4GB you will have problems.  With an unchecked SEPM thats quite easy to do.

Hope these Symantec Knowledgebase Article provided below would help you with Database:

I had a similar problem recently installing SEPM on 2K8R2. This turned out to be an issue with Java preventing the pages from rendering correctly. Are you able to access the pages through the SPC?

    I performed the following steps:

    Remove SEPM

Remove all versions of Java you have.

    Reboot/Reinstall SEPM

https://SEPM-IP:9090 (this will load correct version of java).

    iisreset

    Hope this helps..

Finally my client decided to "give me" another server and migrate SEP 11 there. Sorry abou this, but i believe that if i hadn't migrated it to another server, I would had opened a case.
