    Hi all,

I have 1 client of 100's that will not install the Symantec Endpoint Protection Client. The machine is Windows 7 and I am using an exported package from SEPM. I always end up with rollback towards the end of the installation.

    The Inst.log file is attached.
Defender is disabled. AVG is also installed on this machine but disabled at time of install of SEP.

I have updated our SEPM to 12.1.4013.4013 and I have the latest Clean-Wipe utility (included in the package)
I have not tried installing the 4013 package yet - but I expect the same result.

    Any help appreciated.

Have you tried running cleanwipe? The error in the SEP_INST.log file can be a result of a few different issues.

Also, do you need AVG on there? It's definitely not recommended to run two AV products which can cause resource constraints. Just an fyi.

You can also run symhelp on the machine to see what it shows

    Hi,

Yes I have run cleanwipe and tried installation of Symantec.
AVG is only on there because the user is not happy about having nothing working at all - but I will try without AVG (I always only have 1 AV product on all my clients)

Ill also try Symhelp once I can get my hands on the client.

    Hi,

I havent tried disabling UAC - only because all my other clients don't appear to need this disabled.

The user is on holiday (teacher) so it may not be until early next year until I can get back to it. Ill post here as soon as I can.

    Hey man,

    Try this:

    Manually uninstall AVG

    Disable UAC

Check for MS Essentials if installed and unisntall it.

While you're installing watch the Event viewer for acvitity. If the problem is related to windows componenet, it will show up there. Ex. If the MSEXEC cannot be found it will show up there.

Another way is to create another package with the "Start menu shortcut" unchecked. I dont know why but I found this before to be working.

    Thanks,
