  • 1.  SEP 12.1.6 MP6 install error on Windows Server 2016

    Posted Jan 17, 2017 04:31 AM

    Hello

Cannot install SEP Client 12.1.7061.6600 on Windows Server 2016 through Remote Push with the SEPM.

The installation always rolls back with the error:

The bhdrvx64 service failed to start due to the following error: The request is not supported.

The only way was a manual installation of an unmanaged client and then import the Communication Settings.

But I need a solution for a push or unattended installation.

    Any idea?

12.1.6 MP6 provides only basic capability for Server 2016. See the article here:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH235458

...and ensure the components are disabled to ensure SEP works.

Also, have you tried installing without the the SONAR component to see what the result it?

    Thank you for the information.

I know this article and only want to install core components:

    msiexec /i "\\share\Sep64.msi" ADDLOCAL=Core,SAVMain

Unattended installation is possible, but only with an unmanaged client.

It's not possible to install a managed client with Remote Push from the SEPM (Version 12.1.6 build 7061).

There is no problem with Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012 R2.

After changing the BASHDefs.zip file from the exported client install package with the one from the unmanaged client (downloaded from symantec), the remote push installation from the SEPM was successful.

But then SEPM shows the Server as "Windows Server 2015".

Maybe the package sep64 which is included in the SEPM installation file has a problem?
