    Posted Oct 20, 2016 06:39 AM

    Hi,

    I have a laptop running Win 10 pro 1607 build 14393.321 with SEP 12.1.7061.6600.
The firewall is malfunctioning and i cant get it to work, deinstalled SEP and also used cleanwipe, reinstalled.

It keeps malfunctioning. ID 400 in Windows log network protection, driver is unloaded.
    How to solve this issue?

    Thanks!

Download and run the SymDiag tool once it starts malfunctioning. The tool should be able to detect and suggest remediation.

Download SymDiag to detect Symantec product issues

Alos, after running cleanwipe, there may still be a folder or two left behind which should be manually removed.

Do you have Device Guard active in WIndows 10?

If so, there are 2 solutions:

    1: Disable Device Guard

    or:

2: Do not use the SEP firewall. *edit: this should be ADC...*

Well, the third options is to wait for SEP 14....

Did this on the first laptop with the problem. No solution. Did it just now on my laptop that just updated to Win 10 14393 and SEP is running fine now!
I hope the problem on the first laptop stand on its own, i will image the laptop and try again.

It looks like Win 10 upgrades are really frustrating SEP.

    Thanks Brian

    Hi,

I had this exact problem, only mine went from bad to worse.

After having the SEP firewall disabled for a week or so, I went to Windows control panel and chose "reinstall application". Unfortunately, the process failed during installation for some reason, leaving me with just my original installer.

But here's the thing: the installer won't work!

I recently upgraded my SEP from version 12.1.6 MP1 build 6318 to 12.1.6 MP6 build 7061. I did this so I could update Windows 10 from version 1511 to 1607, which woudn't work with my old version of SEP. I succeeded in doing this without ever having to even uninstall SEP. Everything worked fine for a few weeks, and I was running the newest versions of both SEP and Windows.

After the firewall error and the unintended uninstall of SEP, I couldn't use the installer anymore, because whenever I try, Windows tells me "This application is not compatible with the current version of Windows", the same error message it would show when trying to install the anniversary update with my old version of SEP.

It seems that there's nothing I can do. Running the installer in Windows' compatibility mode didn't work. Returning to Windows 1511 would work, but I can't return to the previous version after ten days have passed from the update. I can't even reset my computer completely, because the Windows 10 1607 update keeps the current version of the OS through even the clearest factory resets.

I've almost given up. I'm using Windows Defender. Is there anything you can do to help me?

In Windows 10 64bit systems, the Symantec endpoint protection shows as “Firewall is not functioning correctly”. To resolve this, do the following steps and correct the issue.

    image

    Solution

    1. Disable Symantec Endpoint protection service – Click Start à Run à Type  smc –stop
    2. Open Network and Sharing Center from the right corner of the Task Bar
    3. Click Change Adapter Settings
    4. Open Local Area Connection à Properties à Select Install
    5. Select Service à Click Add à Select Have Disk à browse the Symantec Install Path à C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\12.1.7061.6600.105\Bin64\TeeferWin8
    6. Select teefer.inf à Click OK and Complete the installation
    7. Restart the system, the Firewall driver loaded.
