  • 1.  SEP blocks clients from accessing data server drives, I am new to SEP and am not a dedicated Sys Admin (More of a hardware tech)

We recently had a network switch fail, so I came in to install a new switch, then noticed that the clients were not connecting to the server, but could see our networked storage disk and other workstations, but not the server. After a couple of reboots, I took a chance and disabled SEP (bottom right hand icon). and after a few seconds the clients could connect to server. I tried this several times over the last few days with the same result !. I downloaded the latest SEP which is I believe 11.05 ? but cannot get the add remove window to populate so I can remove the old SEP. HELP !! what's going on ! Should I use the MSCONFIG to disable the symantec services and manually delete the symantec directories !

Server is Windows 2003 with SP2, the clients are Windows XP with latest SP

I believe the SEP manager is installed but not the client on the server, sorry for being ignorant, like I said I am new to SEP so If I give you a lame answer it's because I am unfamiliar with this Software.
    Thanks.

I  Cheched the server and only:
1, Anti Virus and Anti Spyware protection
    2, Proactive threat protection

    are loaded.

What are the components that are installed on the clients?
Also SEPM is just a management Console  for centralized adminstration

I  Checked the server and only:
1, Anti Virus and Anti Spyware protection
    2, Proactive threat protection

are the components running in the SEP window.

Call Support and get the Cleanwipe utility or Manually remove SEP from this system.
Then install SEP with Antivirus and Antispyware only.
