    You would need to open the slf license file in notepad to view it. It is called sep.slf

    Should be located at:

    Drive:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\CurrentVersion\Data\Config

    And you will be looking for lines that contain the following:

    <start_date> xxx </start_date>

    <end_date> xxx </end_date>

    This is the time the license is valid for.

    Dear Mr. Brian and all team,

    I follow your guidlines. It's really working.

    But I am so confused that some of SEP have expiration date clearly, some are "never expired"

    Could you please help me to understand our case.

    Thank you!

    Dear Brian,

    I can check license status in console of SEPM server. However, some PCs had installed client version directly long time ago without SEPM. That's why I need to check valid license on those PC.

    According to your guideline, I have checked valid time of some PC, but the others show "never expired". I don't understand what "never expired" means.

    Could you help?

    Thank you,

    The 'never expired' is just in the product name. Clearly looking at the other screenshot there are start/end dates. SEP 11.x did not have a license and never expired. This is not the case with 12.1. So I see start/end dates but you can contact support and work out your licensing situation.

    Dear Brian,

    I have tried to check any screenshot I can, but I have no idea about this unmanaged client's license.

    Can I check the valid period with serial number?

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>

    <licenses xmlns="https://licensing.symantec.com">

    <license signature="J8pGQV4vi3XyDNzIsZGqknHk1T7uXAPxJ/VjkFQNB50Bxd3nRjbtzlRZNXqjTWVUZFBIV3L4Cfwrnv4wQ2PNd5ffNtS7QqW4c37DFYFb4Qb4DBlonWfIOH1gtHB79OjwJ//cybMyiLmw4KqD0hMzB4R1pBB+a7i0w9egYU9GlF8=" keyid="">

    <license_format>1</license_format>

    <fulfillment_id>17279715.7</fulfillment_id>

    <serial_id>30557778.7</serial_id>

    <serial_number>M4841995792</serial_number>

    <product_name>Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 Inbuilt Never Expires</product_name>

    <sign_date>2010-10-01</sign_date>

    <key>

    <name>scs_content</name>

    <version>12.1</version>

    <count>1</count>

    <product_code>sepe_12-1-0_base</product_code>

    <license_category>3</license_category>

    <ipl_product_id>A101</ipl_product_id>

    </key>

    </license>

    </licenses>

    Thank you,

    Van.
