  • 1.  SEP client reporting to earlier version of SEPM

    Posted Oct 06, 2017 01:48 AM

    Hi guys,

I have a scenario. What if SEPM version is 12.1.6 MP1 and client version is 12.1.6 MP5.

Does SEPM version 12.1.6 MP1 will download the virus definition for SEP client 12.1.6 MP5?

I think the SEP 12.1.6 MP5 will still report to SEPM version 12.1.6 MP1 but i don't know if SEPM will provide AV definition to SEP client.

Also it is possible to export installer package with SEP version 12.1.6 MP5?

    Thanks in advance.

Best practice is to have the SEPM and client on the same version. As per your scenario, the SEPM will still download definitions for SEP 12.x -.

You can still export SEP version 12.1.6 MP5 from the console  to be used.

The SEPM should be able to update the newer client but will not be able to control or utalise any of the new features of the SEP client until the SEPM is on the same version.

    Hello,

It's recommended to have SEPM and SEP clients on the same version to avoid any compatibility issue. Howerver SEPM version is 12.1.6 MP1 can provide definitions to higher version SEP client i.e. 12.1.6 MP5.

SEPM 12.1.6 MP1 will not have 12.1.6 MP5 client packages in the database unless SEPM is upgraded to that version or else need to import it manaully and then export it.
