This problem happens only on oe client. It started on august and it is still here. I tried asking on this forum time ago, but no answer solved the problem. Cleint was running windows server 2008, now i have updated to last sep version and then to win2008 r2 but still no luck - it still doesn't get updates. Cient can communicate with the server, cause it has just updated the policy, but can't get virus definitions. All other clients can get virus definitions. This clinet has IP 192.168.2.2, all other clients has IP 192.168.1.x, server has IPS 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.1,192.168.0.2.

Stop SMC and Symantec Endpoint Protection service
    delete c:\Programdata\symantec\updates\virusdefs\200911..xxx (all dated folders)

download Intelligentupdater for 64 bit from internet.
    ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/antivirus_definitions/norton_antivirus/20091024-019-v5i64.exe
then run enable the SMC and SEP service and run the intelligent updater.

If the steps mentioned  above fail to solve the problem, you can uninstall the Liveupdate component from add/remove programs. Then install the component again from the lusetup.exe present in the CD1\SEP folder.

Now perform a repair install on the client so that the liveupdate component will be re-registered with the SEP client.

You can also uninstall the Liveupdate from add/remove program and try installing Liveupdate version 3.4.

    ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/liveupdate/3.4

i followed the instructions on the first post. Now i'm going to wait until new virus definitions come out to see if the client updates them or not
