  • 1.  SEP Firewall sticks on Windows 8.1?

    Posted May 28, 2015 04:42 PM

We don't use the symantec firewall.  We stuck with Windows for various reasons.  In the installers, the SEP firewall options are off.  It's not installed... at least on Windows 7 machines.

    We're on 12.1.5 for SEP.

No issues on Windows 7 machines.

I've got a Win 8.1 machine today with SEP 12.1.5 just installed.  Somehow it's using the Symantec firewall instead of the Windows one.

Double checking... The firewall policy is greyed out.  The policy that's there doesn't have the enabled box checked.  It's just this one Win 8.1 machine I've noticed this on.

How do I take the SEP firewall off?  If it's actually running... The Windows firewall page says Symantec is controlling the firewall.

Just remove only the firewall component via add/remove programs

You may need to withdraw / disable the policy from SEPM, this article is applicable to win8 as well.
