  • 1.  SEP Live Update error on Client

    Hello everyone , when I tried to manually launch live update from SEP client UI I got the following error. Version of agent is 12.1.6 MP3 and client OS is server 2012 . Only the AV component is installed on Agent. 

    Below is the output . kindly tell me what is causing this to fail and how it can be fixed withou tununstall or repair. Thanks

    Run the symhelp tool on it. Also check the liveupdate.log file for more info

    I dont have access to the system right now , but do you have any ideas as why it is happening ?  It says "Encountered an error while downloading file sepc$20smr$20definitions$2012.1$20ru6_microdefsb.curdefs_symalllanguages_livetri.zip. "

    But the server has access to the internet.

    Maybe content is corrupt.

    Hi guys , thank you for the reply. Just one more query here. I read somewhere that after the agent is installed ( fresh installation) it will always try to download first from the internet regardless of the configuration you have in LU policy. This behavior can be override by changing the parameter RUNLIVEUPDATE=0 in setaid.ini file.

     

    Now my question is if it fails for the first after it tries to download updates from the internet for whatever reasons , now the next attempt it will try make , will it try to download either from the GUP or SEPM as per the configuration , or even for the second time it will also try to download from internet until it downloads from internet atleast once ?

    Running liveupdate is post installation tasks and if for whatever reason if its not able to download then it will connect to GUP / SEPM only will not attempt the second time.

    Thanks for the reply Rafeeq, so ideally at the second time when it connects to either the SEPM or GUP ideally it should  download the definations just fine ?

    Please ensure that there isn't anything between (Firewall, proxy and any misconfiguration of live update client settings) the server and the internet. also follow the below article.

    For your second question the SEP client will download the definition from SEPM or GUP based on the settings .
