    Hello all,

I'm currently trying to install SEP on multiple devices. I have the edition that is for use for government officals and contracters. However, on some computers, the install stop working suddenly and says that it was interrupted and it doesn't install anything. Attached is the log file. I could use some help trying to figure this out.

    Many thanks

You're trying to install 12.1.6 MP1a, which was one of the first versions to support Windows 10.

I would suggest going with 12.1.6 MP5 as there were a couple bugs in the first versions that supported Windows 10 that caused it to error out on an attempted install.

    Hello Kaxemer,

Thanks for posting your query in community. I did check the SEP_INST log file and below was the error i could find.

    ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() script execution failed.
ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() reset script failure event.
ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() is returning an error (so close to the end!)
CustomAction ShowServiceProgress returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
Action ended 14:11:22: InstallFinalize. Return value 3.

Since you are using the older version of SEP to install this could the issue. Based on the error code in the log, below article might be the solution for your situation.

    https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH234344.html

If this still fails with latest version, you can upload the SIS_INST log from the install failed machine for further analysis.

    C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\12.1.xxx.xxx.xxx\Data\Install\Logs

Click the "Mark as solution" link at bottom left on the post that if this answer fixed your issue :)

    Hi,

You should install latest SEP version on Windows 10 machine.

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU6 MP5 provides basic compatibility for Windows 10 Anniversary Update / Windows 10 Feature Update 1607.

Full support is planned for the next major release of Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Just wondering what "basic compatibility" actually means.  Is there something out there that tells me what is functioning in this basic compatibility mode?
