  • 1.  SEP Small Business version 12. LiveUpdate on server not working

    I noticed my clients are not getting definition updates so I checked the server and the latest version is from February 16. I checked the update log and it had been trying to update but failing. It doesn't say why though.
    LiveUpdate encountered one or more errors. Return code = 4.  [Server: myserver] OR LiveUpdate Failed.
    The server can access the internet OK. I initiated an update manually but it seems to be taking a while... it is just sitting there. Any ideas?

    the connection might be getting timed out ; if you are using proxy use this document.

    Error: LiveUpdate encountered one or more errors. Return code = 4" in LiveUpdate status in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

    HTTP goes through a filter server but it's open for the system that Symantec is on. I can access the internet no problem from that machine. I looked in the log file but don't really see anything that talks about an error.

    I did some testing and the server network communication is fine. Here is what I get when I run liveupdate:

    Is Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration  enabled?

    If so, then uninstall Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration using Add/Remove Windows Components.

    At this point it may be best to open a case with Symantec support. Please update the forum once you have the issue solved.

    No, Enhanced security is off. Any other ideas?
