  • 1.  SEP Stop command not working

    Posted Aug 14, 2014 03:50 AM

    Hi,

We are using SEPM 12.1.4104.4130. all client computers are running Windows 7 and servers are running Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2.

While executing smc -stop command it makes SEP service, in services console, non-responsive. Means smc is unable to stop symantec antivirus.

I tried this on 5 diferent servers (Windows 2008 and 2008 R2). Only restarting that server resolve this problem.

Any idea why it is happening.

    Thanks in advance

    Arun Kumar

As silly as it sounds, I've found that if the UI is open, the SMC -stop command will not work. Make sure the application UI is closed and then issue the command.

    Hi Arun,

In SEP 12, when SEP client interface is opened, smc -stop is not working, only when window is closed then you can stop SMC. Not sure if this is some bug or Symantec made it by design.
