    Need help with what version to install, RU1 or MP1. Why two versions and which one should I use? Running in a Windows 2008 environment.

    RU1 is a full version, MP1 is a maintenance pack. Update to RU1 first, than go to MP1.

    The 11.0 RU7, RU7 MP1, and RU7 MP2 SEPM contains SQL schema changes that are newer than the schema used by 12.1. For this reason, migrations from certain 11.0 RU7 to 12.1 versions are not supported, and are prevented by the installer.

    Migration support for 11.0.7000.975 (RU7) to 12.1 is present in 12.1.1000.157 (RU1) or higher.

    Migration support for 11.0.7101.1056 (RU7 MP1) and 11.0.7200.1147 (RU7 MP2) to 12.1 is not currently available. A future release of the 12.1 product (12.1 RU2) will contain support for additional migration scenarios.

    Please note that this document only covers the supported upgrade paths to the enterprise edition of Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.

    RU1 is Release to Update and MP1 is Maintainace Patch So RU1 and then MP1

    If it is a first install, I would recommend 12.1 RU1 MP1. If this is an upgrade, please refer to migration path mentioned above.

    Yes I have done the upgrade from SEP v 11.0.6 into SEP v 12.1 RU1.

    Please make sure that you backup the database first before you begin the upgrade because sometime it may fail in the middle of the progress.
