  • 1.  SEP12 Firewall policy without NTP installed

    Hi,

    A question about the SEP12 firewall policy and NTP component.

    I always understood that the firewall policy requires the NTP component to be installed on the client otherwise the policy will not have any affect.

    Is this correct?

    Yes Without NTP feature SEPM firewall policy not worked.

    Yes NTP component is must require for Firewall Policy

    NTP is the firewall component :)

    NTP is comprised of BOTH firewall and IPS

    They can be installed separately and are not dependent on one another.

    If you have IPS only installed, you do not need to have a firewall policy in place.

    Hi,

    I would be glad to answer your query.

    Firewall policy requires firewall component to be installed which is a part of NTP

    NTP is a combination of firewall + IPS.

    Intrusion prevention is a first level of defense & then firewall comes into the picture. That's why both the features are very much align to each other & comes under Network Threat Protection (NTP).
