    Hello Symantec Community,

I am attempting to add some new organizational units to my SEPM and are receiving error 'Failed to connect to the Directory server'. Verify that the server name and port are correct [0xe0210000].

I've been trying to find which domain controller it's pointing to.

Reading through the SEPM Admin guide, it states to click admin then servers, however the servers tab does not exist in my SEPM (see attachment)

DNS servers are correct in the tcp/ip settings of the server.

Any reason why this 'servers' tab would be missing in my SEPM?  I only have one SEPM.

    Many thanks for your assistance.

    regards

    Keir Doubas

are you logged in as admin account?

You are not logged in as Full system admin ( Symantec )

You are logged in as a limited user admin thats why those tabs are not visible.

Thumbs up yes to James (#EDIT#, Rafeeq too).

The absence of the Servers and Admin tabs is typically due to the account being used to login to the SEPM console not having the top-level "System Administrator" rights.

The below article discusses the various SEPM Administrator options:

Thanks for the very responsive comments. I cannot believe after 2 years of using SEPM that i havn't needed a function of the 'system adminsitrator' access. I'm currently on the hunt for this account.

    A few questions

    - Are all administrators listed in the SEPM console, or would the superuser or system administrator be hidden from me because i'm only an 'administrator'?

    - Long shot, but is there a way of resetting the superuser account? As the person that setup the solution has left a long time ago and there is a small possibility we will not be able to recover the password

    regards

You can reset Admin password with the help of Resetpass.bat tool

Resetting the administrator user name and password to admin

Resetpass.bat is not in Tools folder

Oh yeah, just to confirm, only system administrator level account can see all accounts, others are limited to accounts of the same level or lower.

Since you are still using SEP 11.7 You can stil use the resetpass.bat file

found in the tools directory of SEPM

    user name: admin

    password : admin

you will be logged in as full admin

thank you all. I've managed to get a colleague with superuser access and have recreated my account with systems administrator access. A pretty simple resolution in the end. I changed the service account and respecified the password and ldap access is now working.

Thank you all once again four fast and  thoughtful responses.. your a great resource guys!!!!!!
