  • 1.  SEPM 12.1.6 MP6 and SQL 2014 SP1 CU7?

    Posted Feb 27, 2017 05:34 PM

This may be too specific of a question, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway?

The release notes for SEPM 12.1.6.6 state that SQL 2014 SP1 is supported, and while I'd like to take the SQL server to 2014 SP2, (based on the release notes) I'm concerned that something will break. As a baby step, I was wondering if any one had tried installing SQL 2014 SP1 CU7 while still running 12.1.6.6 on their SEPM?

I realize that 12.1.6.7 supports SQL 2014 SP2, but I'm not ready to make that jump yet.

    Thanks, Mike.

It should work and be supported. The only one I know of that isn't supported is SQL 2016 SP1.

Thank Brians, I was just concerned that I would upgrade the DB, and my SEPM's would have a heart attack. Is your "should work and be supported" in the 90% or greater confidence range? Would you have the same confidence in just going right to SQL 2014 SP2?

As a side question, any issues you've heard of with 12.1.6.7? The forums are pretty quiet...

I had a case open with Symantec about it so I did hear it from support. So it should be 100% but....have good backups I suppose :) Our DBAs take care of all the SQL stuff but we've not had any issues so if something blows up I tend to look to them for the support/guidance.

I've not heard any issues with 12.1.7, at least on here.
