  • 1.  SEPM failing to update automatically

    Hello. I ran in to a recent issue where my SEPM was not update automatically and the definitions became about 2 weeks out of date. After trying to clear out all virus definitions I had to contact Symantec support as that still did not resolve the issue. We ended up re-installing SEPM 12.1.4 overwriting the existing console of 12.1.2 and bringing things up to date. I have left my clients on 12.1.2 in the interim. We all had to uninstall liveupdate > disable UAC > re-install live update > and the console DOES update successfully. 

    But a few days later I see the console is failing to update automatically again. If I try to run live update from within SEPM it fails, BUT, if I run luall.exe and run the update that way...works with no problem. 

    Has anyone encountered this before or know any steps to resolve? Below are the steps from my Symantec case we went through.

    Do you have any proxy in place?

    Did they have you run SEPM debugging?

    They did not have me do debugging but here are the results of the help tool I just ran.

    Also, do you have enough free space on C:?

    I have about 10GB free space so that should be enough I would think.

    For live update error go through below article

    I see a log file "Log.LUE" but the last date of modified for it was 5/21/13. I'm not sure why it would have NOT been logging properly.

    click on start- run 

    type Luall.exe

    does that complete and log the info in lue.log file?

    Liveupdate is not working then, try this

    How to Uninstall and Reinstall LiveUpdate on SEPM 12.1 (Enterprise Edition or Small Business Edition)
