  • 1.  SEPM Java console long login times

    Hi all,

We recently conpleted upgrading all of our SEPM servers to 14.0.1 RU1 MP1 and upon completing this upgrade when attempting to log into the SEPM console for any of these servers we're seeing the "Logging on to the management server" progress bar for upwards of 5 minutes. When logging in from the SEPM servers themselves this only takes a few seconds. The web client also only takes a few seconds.

Does the same thing happen directly on the SEPM servers while using the Java Remote Console?

No when logging in directly from the SEPM it takes less than a minute. However the method of launching the console from the SEPM is slightly different in the sense that I just open Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager as opposed to running the JnlpServlet.jnlp file which creates a shortcut for the console if that could be making a difference as well.

Correct. What I meant is logging in via the Java shortcut directly on the server running the local SEPM.  Either way I would suggest opening a support ticket for this one as I have not heard of this happening with the build you are running.

Sounds good I'll go ahead and test this and open a ticket. Thank you for the help.

I have got the same problem, after upgrading to 14.0.1 MP1 the SEPM Java console is not opening at all. It is freezing on the logon process for a while. Web access is working fine.

Symantec knows this issue https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH236391.html, but did not pulished in Release notes.

My SEPM is riunning on WS2006 Standard virtual machines and both located on ESXi host 5.5. SEP db is MS SQL 2008 R2 SP3.

But SEPM application does not have this isue on the second VM. The first VM has the issue.

If I repair SEPM I can enter to Java console at first time, but it is not working after -:)

Symantec cannot explain this behavior and recommends to upgrade ESXi server to 6.0 update 2 or later. https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2129176

Please note that previous SEPM versions cannot connect to the updated SEP database with patch 14.0.1 MP1 !!! The database schema changes.

I hope this information would be usefull who is planning for the update.
