Resetting the administrator password to admin

You can use the resetpass.bat to reset the password for the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager admin account.

    Note:
If you change the admin account name to something other than admin and then subsequently run resetpass.bat, it changes the account name back to admin.

    To reset the administrator password

1.Open Windows Explorer on the computer that runs Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.
    2.Locate the <Drive>:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Tools folder.
    3.Double-click the resetpass.bat executable file.
The password is reset to admin.

    4.Change the password immediately.

Warning: Do not use the "admin" account when setting up Active Directory Authentication. You must use a new Administrator account to use Active Directory authentication. For more information, see the Symantec Technical Support knowledge base article,

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH104726&locale=en_US

    second way

    1. Click Start, and then click All Programs
    2. Click Accessories
    3. Right-click Command Prompt and click Run as administrator
    4. When prompted, either click "Yes" or enter your administrator credentials if necessary.
    5. Navigate to the directory of the "resetpass.bat" tool using the cd command. (e.g. cd C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Tools)
      1. On a 32-bit system the default location is: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Tools
      2. On a 64-bit system the default location is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Tools
    6. Type in resetpass.bat to run the tool
    7. Wait for 10 minutes and login to SEPM with username and password as admin
    8. It will prompt for new password

It may work however to provide more security Symantec has removed the resetpass.bat file from tools folder. Symantec has removed it from SEP 12.1 RU1 release.

    Hi,

For resetpass.bat tool is available on symantec support team you can raised support ticket and get this tool.

Check mithun comments on this attached thread

Try to find out recipient email address with the help of following steps:

Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\etc

Open mailConfig.properties file with the help of Notepad.

    You will find following entry:

    "adminMailReciptants=abc@symantec.com"

In this example abc@symantec.com is the recipient email address.

Check the inbox of specified email address.

If there is not any specific email address then need to reset the password using resetpass.bat file from either of the Earlier version of SEP setup (if you have any)

You could also log a case with Support to receive resetpass.bat file.
