  • 1.  SEPM replication Database size varies

    Posted Apr 12, 2017 10:46 AM

    Hi Guys,

I have a question we have SEPM client with a replication patner and we see that with in SEPM that the replication between the 2 sites happens successfully.

But when we check the database size it varies. The size of the primary site is larger than the replication partner. Is this common is there anything that i need to be worried about.

    We use SQL.

It's not abnormal. It could vary depending on the policies, clients, and groups that each site contains.

We see that there is a size variation of around 20 gb. But from with in SEPM it shows the replication is happening fine. Would it cause any problem. From within SEPM i dont see any difference in both sites.

Could this be caused by anything else ?

Have you done a compare to see what tables differ in size between the two?

Also, what is the exact version they're on?

Yes Brian. We did a check and found that some tables are missing from the secondary DB. Below are few of them. But the size of the tables which are available in both have the same size. Only the once that missing contribute to the size difference.

    dbo.TASKSTATE
    dbo.CONTENT_EVENTS
    dbo.SEM_AGENT
    dbo.SEM_CONTENT

    Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - 11.0.5058.0 (X64) Standard Edition (64-bit).
    SEPM version 12.1.6

    For reference:

dbo.TASKSTATE - For internal use only. Indicates whether a given process is still running or is hanging.
dbo.CONTENT_EVENTS - Contains all event records when a client content request results in a full content distribution.
    dbo.SEM_AGENT - Keeps agent information
    dbo.SEM_CONTENT - Client content mapping

These tables may vary from SEPM to SEPM so it's not uncommon to differ in replicating environments.
