Endpoint Protection

Hello all,

Just like to check this out. We installed SEPM 11.0.6 MP3 Package on a windows 2008 r2 server. One thing i noticed is that the SEP client installed on itself doesnt check in itself as regularly (and sometimes not at all till reboot of server) as the rest of the servers and in the console there is no green dot on itself.

On the client. it shows that all definations are updated.

Already tried reinstalling the SEP client but that didnt help. Any ideas why and what to check?

On server stop the service of endpoint wih below steps.

Start->run

smc -stop

Ok

go to C: program files\Symantec\Symantec endpoint protection

Open Sylink.xml file in a word pad.

There will be two instances of Verify signatures and the value will be 1

Make it 0 (please do change anything else. make a backup of this file before you proceed)

Save it and start the services by

smc -start

give it a 10 minute to 15 minute shot to communicate.

That should fix the issue.

is the client communicating with the manager to get updates?

seems like windows firewall is enabled on the server; try disabling FW and update the policy on client;

tried your solution but i cannot save the xml file, keeps saying file in use. so couldnt try this.

firewall should block only external packets, however since the SEP client and the SEPM is on the same server, dont think this will affect (the client shows a green dot and is updating itself)

I tried doing a no firewall and rebooted the server. however still the same. checkin is now 1/2 hour different

on desktop, click   Start -> run (Alternatively you can type the same in the search after you click the start peral on desktop)

type smc -stop

Ok

then do the rest.

then start the services by smc - start
