  • 1.  SEPM unavailable while SEP trying to register to SEPM

    Hello,

maybe someone have experience with following scenario and can explain what will happen.

If the SEPM infrastructure is not available due to SEPM services are down f.e. and during that time clients which never accessed the SEP infrastructure will contact the SEPs f.e. when they are installed.
What will happen with that requests?

Does the clients will contact after the SEPM is available again the infrastructure to register into the database etc. or is there something that could lead the client in an unmanageable status?

    Thank you in advance
    bye, toby

ans: if service is down; the client will try to register constantly  ( its based on clients pull mode or push mode ,; by default its push mode so there is always a request to sepm from the client)

    Q) Does the clients will contact after the SEPM is available again the infrastructure to register into the database etc. or is there something that could lead the client in an unmanageable status?

Ans: the clienets smc.exe process will try to reach sepm all the time based on PULL Mode or PUSH MODE

Clients will not get any response for those requests

The clients will get registered in it's next hear beat interval after the SEPM service starts....

Its not clear if you're asking a "what if" or are needing to plan some downtime.  We found that if you known you're going to have some SEPM downtime, its nice to temporarily change the policy settings to allow the machines to get updates from Symantec, that way you're always running the latest version of the definitions, though your bandwidth will take a hit with all the duplicate requests.
