  • 1.  SEPM v11RU7 MP1- how to restore database with only sem5.db

    Posted Jan 19, 2014 08:31 PM

We are using SEPM version 11.7101.1056. The Windows totaly corrupted yesterday, however we managed to recover content of HDDs.

We have have build another Windows 2008 with fresh SEPM installed, we tried steps here - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH102333&profileURL=https%3A%2F%2Fsymaccount-profile.symantec.com%2FSSO%2Findex.jsp%3FssoID%3D1390181245057u14ubE2G6e0922Z24CJMY1c356KhR1sKcvchY

But it didn't say how to restore the database by files, so it there a way to do this? We never perform backup before.

The database piece of it would've been in the backup, which could've than easily been restored following the above article you linked. Without the backup, you will need to do a fresh install (sounds like you did).

How many clients are affected? You can move the by replacing the sylink file with a new sylink from the new SEPM to get them to connect.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

You can not restore database by using sem5.db, you need .zip file generally stored at C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\data\backup

Can not restore SEPM database using raw sem5.db file only.

If less no of clients are available in the netowrk, replace sylink.xml file to point clients to the new SEPM.
