  • 1.  Server Management stats for a SAN

    Hi All,
     
    Hope you have time to assist me briefly...
     
    I know Altiris SMS is able to monitor disk usage on Servers ect....but are you aware of how it applies to SAN's?
     
    Would we still be able to generate reports based on the rate that disc usage is being used by users and in turn calculate a projected cost? Or determine at what rate we would need to invest in more storage space?
     
    We have all our Servers on Vmware and our data is sitting on a SAN.

    Not sure if your SAN can do SNMP based traps as this may be the only possible way in the current version 7 as Monitor 7 can receieve SNMP based traps and generate alerts and remediation tasks based of the SNMP trap.  In the future Monitor solution will be able to query WMI, SNMP and WSman agentless so this may be able to acheive what you are looking for.  Just a question on what type of SAN you are running and what protocols it currently supports?
