    Hi All,

I'm looking up upgrading our Deployment Server and Notification server in the next month or so.  My current spec is as follows:-

    Deployment Server
Dell Poweredge 860, 8GB Ram, Xeon Dual Core 3050 (2.13Ghz)
    Windows 2003 64bit
    SQL 2005 64bit
    Raid 1 (2 x 750GB SATA HD)

Notification Server (Running on Microsoft Virtual Server 2005r2)
Xeon Dual Core E5320 (1.86Ghz) - virtual dual core
    4GB Ram
Virtual HDD run on 15K rpm HDD

I have noticed that when I have the notification server running, it does really hammer the performance of the deployment console server.   Both are running on seperate servers.  Also Notification Server website can sometimes be really really slow.  It does run quicker is I remote console onto the server.

    My new spec is

    Deployment Server
Dell Poweredge R300, 12GB Ram, Xeon Quad Core X3323 (2.5Ghz)
    Windows 2008 64bit
    SQL 2005 64bit
    Raid 1 (2x750GB SATA HD)

    Notification Server
Either move it to run on the physical Poweredge 860 or have it as a virtual server (see below)

Total number of computers to manage is 1100

    So I have a few questions;

    1) Is that server spec good enough?
    2) Can I run Notification Server on the same Server using Hyper V?  Will there be any performance gains or will it cripple the server?
    3) Will DS work with SQL 2008 64bit ?  I have licences to install that as an option.
    4) Any other suggestions for good performance.

    Many thanks for any help

    Leonard
