  • 1.  severe error on SEPM - An unexpected exception has occurred

    Posted Jul 16, 2010 11:20 AM
    Hello,

I have a strange error on SEPM logs

com.sygate.scm.server.util.ServerException: Authentication Failure. Please try again. at com.sygate.scm.server.task.ScheduledReportingHelper.doReportingLogin(ScheduledReportingHelper.java:416) at com.sygate.scm.server.task.SecurityAlertNotifyTask.processNotifications(SecurityAlertNotifyTask.java:396) at com.sygate.scm.server.task.SecurityAlertNotifyTask.run(SecurityAlertNotifyTask.java:277) at java.util.TimerThread.mainLoop(Timer.java:512) at java.util.TimerThread.run(Timer.java:462)

There are some scheduled reports that I have been getting from SEPMs for last several month without any problem.  But recently this error showed up.  Those notifications are created by admin accounts and using both those admin accounts I can login to any SEPM.

The site is running SEP11 RU5 for several months on dedicated windows 2003 R2 (sp2) servers and using sql2005 also on separate server.  Any idea!

    Sincerely thanks

Have you changed the IIS permissions or changed the admin password on the domain that could be affecting the Service?

    Do you have replication enabled?

Check the  replication log do you have any errors there?

    Hello,

These SEPMs and SQL servers are not part of any domain, and no one except me login to them.  There are two system admin accounts on SEPMs, (both system administrators), and I am the only one use them.  Since creating the site and replication site over a year ago, I have not changed any thing on IIS.  All reporting alerts are created by either of those two accounts.

Password for admin has never been changed since installation, and other admin equivalent user password was changed 5 months ago.

Fortunately these errors appeared only one day last week out of over a year since the system is in use.  Everything is working fine for 6 days now - no error

But I am curious to find out the real cause.

I am sorry for the delay in responding, but actually I was trying to see if those errors appear again.

    Sincerely,

    Hello,

I looked at the link, but it does not relate to the situation....

It happened only once in last 14 months, no one was logged into to any SEPMs.....

In my opinoin it happened when one or the reporting notification process was executing, but interestingly all those notifications were created by full admins and their properties never changed......

    Sincerely,

    Hello,

Same errors are happening once every week in last couple of weeks.  Now our site SEPMs and most of the clients are on SEP 11 RU6a (11.0.6005.562).

As before, everything is seems to be working fine.  I can login to any SEPM on the site. Replication is successful and no error reported in logs.  SQL 2005 is running on a separate box, without any errors.   Liveupdate is fine.

I have no schedules to run reports, but have few notifications setup.   Last time back in July 2010 I did call technical support but was not very helpful.

    Sincerely,
