  • 1.  SharePoint 2010 doesn't work with Symantec Endpoint Protection

    Hi,

    I do have  Symantec Endpoint Protection at one of a SharePoint farm. The farm have claims based autheticated web application. The web application, central admin, user profile service application desen't work.

    It is strange that the web application, central admin, user profile service application works automatically when I uninstalled  Symantec Endpoint Protection at all the SharePoint servers, including SQL server.

    Does there is any know issue relating to same.

    I found one of a article with in Symantec, http://www.symantec.com/connect/issues/sharepoint-server-2010-may-not-work-correctly-after-recovery-entire-farm

    We had similar issue, but we were using Symantec Endpoint Protection instead of Symantec backup.

    I am not sure about the version of the Symantec Endpoint Protection

    If you open the SEP client and click on Help >> About, it should tell you which version of SEP is running.

    Also, what components of SEP do you have installed?

    What exactly is not working?

    Hello,

    What verison of SEP are they running? Is that SEP 12.1, SEP 11.x or SAV 10.x?

    Symantec Endpoint Protection is a security product, where as Symantec Backup Exec is a Backup Software.

    It is recommended you to carry the Latest Version of SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1.

    Hi Brian,

    The version is 12.1.671.4971

    Some settings was not accessible at Central admin. One of a web application was throwing same unexpected error message.

    Unable to restart some services as well.

    Do you have all components installed (AV, PTP, NTP) or only AV?

    Also, your client is a few versions behind. The latest is RU1 MP1.

    Hello,

    I would recommend you to migrate SEP 12.1.671 to SEP 12.1 RU1 and then to SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1.

    Secondly, If that does not resolve the issue, I would request you to please provide us a screenshot of the error you are facing the issue.

    Sorry for the late response. I found that we do have only AV at our environment.

    Do we need components installed (AV, PTP, NTP) as well?
