  • 1.  SHIFT Key Does Not Work When Entering Passphrase

I was recently issued a new Dell Precision 7510 laptop with Symantec Encryption Desktop (version 10.3.2, build 15238). My company uses SSO and so my PGP passhrase is the same as my network credentials which contains special characters. However, when my PC boots, I am unable to use the SHIFT key to recognize special characters when entering my passphrase so I am unable to log in with it. I have had to call my IT team to get a Whole Disk Recovery Token to log in. I found this article (https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH223977.html) outlining my exact problem but there have been no updates to this case since 2014 indicating that a fix was released.

Can anyone tell me if this fix has been released in a later version?

    Thank you!

The current latest version is 10.4MP1, so definitely worth taking a look:

The release notes for this, and the version you're running can be found in the below articles:

While I can't find any specific reference to your problem, you are running the oldest possible version of 10.3.2, which had 13 Maintenance updates released for it, so I'd certainly recommend upgrading as a first step.

It's worth noting as well, that while the article you linked specifically references UEFI enabled machines, the version of SED you're running doesn't support UEFI.
