  • 1.  Should I install Symantec over Trend?

    Posted Nov 23, 2010 09:11 AM

Can anyone help/advise. As a small charity we have been offered Symantec Protection Suite Small Bus Edition through the CTX/Techsoup scheme (see http://www.ctxchange.org/directory/80) and also available is Endpoint Edition.

We run two servers - one with SBS 2003 and one with Windows Server 2003, and 11 clients running mix of W7 and XP Pro.

Currently protected by Trend Client / Server Security Agent but this due for renewal and under this charity scheme Symantec LOADS cheaper - hundred of pounds differecne for us.

Any thoughts on these questions will be welcome:

    - will Symantec Protection suite do everything the TREND suite does?

    - suitability for a network like ours

    - is installation on clients and servers a expert job or can a layperson do it with a bit of knowledge?

    - any thoughts on the installation process, I understand changing from one AV to another can be fraught sometimes.

    Appreciate any help

    David
