Can I safely delete .vdb files? They can become quite large and kill disk space.

    Thank you

Yes you can delete those files .its the .xdb file which contains current defination. vdb files are old defination so no harm in deleting those files.

You might have a bigger problem. How much is "quite large"? By default you should be keeping 5 of these old virus definition files. To change this follow this guide http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/261a9e3bfe34402988256b18007119fe?OpenDocument. But since you said "large space" I am assuming that you are seeing a huge amount of space being used up. This could be the result of a corrupt virus definition that is causing you to download this large defininitions over and over. If this is the case just deleting the old .vdb won't get you anywhere. So you should tell us how much space is actually being used.

    Cheers
