  • 1.  Slow restart/shutdown after installing Endpoint Encryption

    This seems to only affect one machine, specs below:

    Windows 10 Pro x64

    Lenovo Thinkpad S1 Yoga with SSD

    There are 2 x issues:

    1. Despite branding the installer with custom logos, these do not show when Symantec Endpoint Encryption 11.3 is installed. I have tested the same installer on another windows 10 machine and it is branded correctly.

    2. Once the encryption software is installed the laptop takes around 5 - 10 mins to reboot or shutdown, startup times are not affected. As soon as I uninstall the software it goes back to normal shutdown/restart speeds (less than 1 minute).

    I have reinstalled the software several times and even rebuilt the installer but no change.

    One thing I will say is that I have reinstalled the software 10+ times on this machine and some of those times the installer has not been branded so I'm wondering if the machine is somehow caching the settings of a previous installer? Is there some sort of cleanup tool or manual uninstalltion process I can follow?

    Just in case anyone else comes across this, the slow restart issue continued to happen even after the symantec encryption software was uninstalled so I updated the BIOS and drivers and it's rebooting normally now.

    The branding issue has been fixed by installing the maintenance pack on the server.
