  • 1.  Is SMG 10.6.5-1 compatibile with VMWare esx 6.5

    HI,

     

    We are looking to upgrade to SMG version 10.6.5-1 but before we do I was reading through the upgrade notes and it says;

    You can update to Symantec Messaging Gateway 10.6.5-1 on any of the following
    platforms: 
    --VMware ESXi/vSphere  5.5/6.0
     

    We are on version 6.5 and I want to know is there any known issues with upgrading to this version before we do.

    Hi,

     

    VMware 6.5 would be a minor upgrade to VMware 6.0 so it might actually work. That said, you might not necessarily get support as ESXi 6.5 is not explicitly indicated as being supported.

    You can always try loading it and seeing what happens.

    We have it, and it does work. But, you may have a hard time if you call support. One issue I ran into was Disk being thick or thin provisioned. We chose thin (not good). Thick, it loved it.
