  • 1.  SNMP Trap Service Failure

I am currently running DS 6.9 SP3 on Server 2003 and have an issue with the local machine. Basically in the event viewer it fails to start the SNMP Trap Service. I am unable to manually start it from the Services Console. It brings up a message saying "Could not start the SNMP Trap Service on Local Computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified"

Has anyone experienced a similar issue, it's not a major problem were having, just would be good to rid our server of this error.

    Many Thanks

It sounds as if the file it is looking for is missing or corrupt.  You may need to re-install the SNMP services.  In Win2003, you can uninstall and reinstall via the add/remove programs --> Add/Remove windows components.  It will be under the Management and Monitoring tools area.

If you copy snmptrap.exe from %WINDIR%\system32\ on a working system to the non-working system, then restart the SNMP Trap Service, it will also fix this problem.  =)
