Hello All
Is there an elegant way to install a software by policy but on for computers having a specific patch already installed.
I've tried many ways but i'm not sure about the right way to do it.
Thanks for your help,
Dany Lavoie
Hi danyavoie,
You can use applicability check for that. Apllicability check should detect your patch by some of the registry key or some file/file version on HDD and allow to install software or not. Applicability check can be added into software during editing in Rules tab.
Please read more about applicabiltity check here: https://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/software-component-management-best-practices-75-76#connect-anchor-link-a05
For more information about detection rules please read: https://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/symantec-software-management-71-best-practices-part-2#a07

Dmitri
Dmitri is correct. You can also package the specific patch and then edit the software to depend on the patch so if it's not installed the Policy will install the patch first. But then don't use the Applicability rule as the Policy may evaluate the Applicability rule first and say the patch isn't installed and the Policy stops - test this as this behaviour may have changed since I last tried it.
Thanks, the association tab solved my problem!
