    Hi everybody,

I'm evaluating a test installation of the Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition in version 12.0.1001.95 and faced some problems. I have installed the test installation on a Windows Server 2003 Small Business Edition (SP2) and on a Windows XP Professional client (SP3). The Protection Center is installed on the server, of course.

    1. I have configured two different policy sets - one for the server(s) and one for the clients. On the client, the regular scan ran at the sheduled time and that's it. On the server, the regular scan ran at the sheduled time and since then, it runs every hour - although it's configured to run once a week. Has anybody faced this problem as well?
    2. Updates are configured in the following way: The Protection Center updates every 4 hours. The clients (laptops) use LiveUpdate once a day at 10 am (for the case that the user is off premises). Now, Protection Center has downloaded new definition files, but the server and the client still have the old ones. I once tried the remote command "content update", but that didn't make a difference either. I couldn't find a configuration option that lets me choose when to install updates. Did I oversee something?
    3. Is there a good documentation for firewall policy settings or do I have to make it by "trial and error"? I want to configure the firewall setting in a strict manner (according to "high security").
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Markus Repges

P.s.: Answers in German are also welcome. ;-)

I'm stupid - and sorry. Please forget issue no. 2. I just realised that the virus definition files from yesterday are still up to date.

    For Firewall check these
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2008032011023248

    For scheduled scan
Edit the policy once and make sure its set and assigned correctly.
On the server open SEP client go to Scans and make sure there is no locally created scans.

    Thank you for your answers.

The firewall documentation for version 11 says that it's possible to define the task "ask" as an alternative to "block" or "allow". Is it planned to reimplement this in version 12 or later?

I rescheduled the regular scan on the server and checked that there is no locally created scan. Since then, it's quiet. Let's wait for Sunday. :-)
