    Hi there,

We have a SEPM server running Windows 2003 Standard and SEPM 11.0.5002.333, and the HOME tab reports that the server has to be restarted, but I've restarted multiple times and it still says it has to be restarted.

Is there a way of clearing this status, or fooling the console into believing the server has already been rebooted?  This is really annoying, and throwing off our Security Status updates.  I tried looking for a solution in the forums, but couldn't find one for this particular problem.

Thanks so much for any help!

    Dan

    Hi,

You can right click on the client that is showing "Restart Required" and delete it from SEPM.

After that, you can right click on the shield icon at the client and update policy. That will force the client to re-register with SEPM and send all the logs. That should take care of the issue.

    Hello,

Try Running a Repair of the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.

    1) Go to the Add / Remove Programs in the Control Panel
    2) Highlight Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager
    3) Click on Change
    4) Click on Repair.

    The Issue might get resolved.

     Hi

The solution for the same is that you will need to remove the same from the Database..

For this you will need to call the tech support & get help for the tech support engineer..

Aniket, when I right-click and go to select "Delete", the option to Delete is ghosted, so that won't do what I wanted it to do.  It's listed, but without a green dot on the shield.  I have confirmed that it is installed, and the shield shows up on the server (which HAS a green dot on the shield in the taskbar).

Mithun, I don't think I want to do this because it will ask for all of the database information again and will re-initialize the database. This isn't what I really want to do, there's too much sensitive information here (I have all the database connection information, but is it safe to do so without losing or wiping out any of the existing settings?)

Happytohelp, I don't think I need to call technical support for this one, as I haven't narrowed down what the specific problem is.

The message on the Information page says, "The Network Threat Protection component has a product patch to apply", yet we are not using Network Threat Protection.  It doesn't seem to be behind in virus definition updates or scanning on schedule, so I can't understand why I'm getting a message to restart.

    This issue has been resolved.

Here is the sequence of events that lead to the solution to the problem:
    • Uninstalled SEP
    • Uninstalled LiveUpdate
    • Reboot
    • Re-install SEP from the SEPM console
    • Wait for the scan to complete
    • Reboot
    • Check server status
    • "Restart Required" on the HOME tab returns to "0".
The machines I currently have on this SEPM server are all registering the latest virus defs.

    Problem solved!
