We've been having trouble with our SMP being incredibly slow, especially the web console. Managing anything is near impossible.  My SA said the DB server was peak processor almost all the time and this thing has more than enough resources.  Our DB admin has been out for a couple weeks now.  The SAs have other things to work on and have only been dealt this because i've been on training for a month with another month left.  Theres a particular item that seems to be failing quite often. We have a call open with symantec we just seem to keep getting escalated without resolve.  Any particular item they should query the DB to try and find the process thats throwing this exception? If more details are needed let me know.  Our product=SMP&version=7.1.6851

    SMP-2k8r2

DB-sql2008 on a seperate box from the SMP

( Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: The string was not recognized as a valid DateTime. There is a unknown word starting at index 2.Couldn't store <01cb0e399689e45a> in Installed Date Column.  Expected type is DateTime. ---> System.FormatException: The string was not recognized as a valid DateTime. There is a unknown word starting at index 2.

Do you have more details?  Is this a new SMP installation or a migration?  Is the SMP and the SQL server US English localization?  Are you using a supported collation, such as Latin1_General_CI_AS?

It appears performance for SQL is dreadful if it's constantly at peak processor.  Is SQL dedicated to only Altiris, as recommended?  How many nodes are you supporting in your Altiris install currently?
