    Hi All -
A User in my office found some trojan virus/malware on his PC(Windows XP SP3). It was something that looked like it was another AV software claiming he had viruses, likely to prompt him to goto a website to "buy" the software.
He ran both Endpoint Protection & Spybot to rid the malware. When he rebooted his pc, he is stuck at the Windows dialog. He types in his userId & then password, the dialog looks as though he is logging into our network & then immediately is prompted with the same Windows startup Logon diolog box. We have tried to start in Safe Mode with the same results.

Short of wiping his HD clean & starting from scratch - can we do anything to get past the windows dialog box?
Can I create some sort of boot disk from another PC with Endpoint Protection?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A Symantec authorized boot cd is in the works. You can follow its progress here https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/idea/antivirusantispyware-scanning-recovery-boot-cd. I also posted some simple instructions on making your own at that same page. However you should try mapping to the infected drive from another computer on the network to run a full scan. Please post back with the results.

    Hope this helps

There is also a chance that your Windows XP partition was broken by the virus. Below is a good guide that I have used in the past for fixing a broken windows XP installation. I hope you find it useful.
