  • 1.  Surface Pro 4 storage driver

I have had pretty consistent success with the Surface Pro 3 being deployed through DS 7.5/6, but now we are starting to deploy the Surface Pro 4. I can get it into PXE and then the preboot environment, but it seems to be missing the storage drivers to see the local disk. I have the driver pack for the Surface 4 downloaded from MS, but not sure which one is the storage driver...I have tried each one and none of them worked.

Anyone else messing with these yet?

I had the same exact issue today, although I'm running DS6.9.  The Surface Pro 4 uses a Samsung NVMe drive which requires its own driver (not included in the MS driver pack) for WinPE to see the disk.  I got it working using an older HP driver, but the attached driver should work as well.

I had a difficult time importing the correct drivers into WinPE 4.0, so I upgraded to WinPE 5.1 and now can boot my Surface Pro 3 & 4.  We are on DS 7.6 HF7

DaveJ, thanks for sending that over. I will try it out today or tomorrow for testing.

Worked fine after importing and rebuilding the preboot image. WinPE 4.0. Thanks for your help!

So close! Anyone have this driver in 32-bit?? I imported this driver into my WinPE4.0 and it only comes up 64-bit. I'm using ImageInvoker, so I'm limited to 32-bit :(

The INF file apparently contains a 32-bit section.... so does that not work for you?

As for ImageInvoker, I've heard too that the lack of 64-bit support is a total pain. But that's a legacy DS6.9 3rd-party add-on... and not designed for the DS7.6?

    Correct. I'm still using DS6.9 SP6

I saw the 32-bit section in the INF - even tried stripping out the 64-bit section, but it only imports as a 64-bit driver.

    Samsung's site has an installer - http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/global/html/support/downloads.html

But I haven't figured out how to crack it open yet - it detects the card and the OS and installs the appropriate driver - so I'd need a Win8 32-bit install with that drive present to get the driver....
