Symantec never give official release dates, just a quarter if you're lucky and it'll appear one day.

The 7.5 saga has been ongoing since last year - is there a central web page that has the current status? It's getting somewhat repetitive reporting "no one has a clue" back to senior management. About 90% of the threads on the topic have outdated information, so I'm hesitant to get my information from them.

It's not out until it's out and as you know they really wanted it released on Sept 5.  There were issues that needed to be resolved that were discovered during Beta 3 that have slid the release to October.  I've heard this from multiple sources but to be fair they're all working from the same set of information.

I just wish Symantec would put out an official date. I appreciate that this is not a trivial undertaking, but everything I get is either from a "source", a forum thread, or a friend of a friend. Combined with the Reuters article earlier this year that Symantec is trying to unload Altiris, that doesn't inspire a lot of confidence from upper management. This type of release management is what our CIO expects for Jake's Cat Wallpaper app, not for enterprise software.

I completely agree.  Although I really like Altiris, and am anxious for the forthcoming release, Symantec has always been very ambiguous about releases and updates etc. with the altiris products.  I have things to schedule that are dependent on when I get this upgrade done, and so far I can't give my boss a definitive answer as to when these things will get done.  I liked it when Altiris was just Altiris...without Symantec.

I find the release notes and document for the 7.5, but not able to find the SIM download for the offical release. Has anyone locate the SIM download?

What has changed in the release notes for IT Management Suite 7.5

I think this reluctance to commit to release dates started before Symantec took over.

What good is a release date if it's not firm anyway?  I'd rather not have one promised if there's a chance they can't stick to it.

While it's frustrating I've been waiting for 7.5 (mainly for the initial deployment like window for managed computers) for a long time, I'd also rather not have it at all if it's buggy.  Every time I upgrade, something breaks, so the less chance of that happening (at least to something important), the better.

I just ran SIM and was presented with an updated version of SIM to install along with all of the upgraded 7.5 components.

Great, looking forward to upgrading in a few weeks/months after more bugs you guys find have been worked out.
