Symantec Anti virus Corporate Edition removal

    Hi all,
Here is the scenario, I am using Symantec Anti virus Corporate Edition 10.1.7000. I was using the SMS to manage all clients. (Not a large environment no more then 20 clients.) But now I am having a problem, I have uninstalled the SMC on the server and uninstalled the server itself without taking the clients off the SMC or without giving them sufficient privileges or unlock the options for client administration. Now I can’t uninstall any of the clients.
I did back up the PKI but some home it’s corrupted and it doesn’t work when I try to re-establish the server- client’s relationship.

Any help would be much appreciated

Do u want to uninstall all the client or install the server and re establish the communication.

     _________________________________________________________
     uninstall client without password

Go to this key(If not exists create it)

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\AdministratorOnly\Security /v LockUnloadServices
Make this value 0, this is the password to stop Symantec services.. Similarly
     HKLM\SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\AdministratorOnly\Security /v UseVPUninstallPassword
Make this value 0, this is the password asked while uninstalling...

     OR

     u can use nonav/cleanwipe.

     __________________________________________________________
If you want to bring back the communication

You can install server and copy the cert from any client and put it in server pki folder.(Server name and IP should be same)

    Or

Install the server and copy the following files to all the Client
GRC.DAT. You will find it in \\servername\VPHOME
    Cert from \\servername\VPHOME\pki\roots

Check this doc for client and server communication issues.

Hi  Thanks for your reply so soon.
I think would love to just get rid of Symantec corporate and install the SEP.
Now I don know what is this nonav/cleanwipe if its a program how can i get it? and using this tool does it mean i don need to change the registry settings for password?

    Thanks again

Cleanwipe is a Removal Tool. Inorder to get that tool you have to contact Technical support on the local support number. The removal tool doesnot require the password

When we install SEP over SAV , SEP firts removes SAV and then install it self,

    No coming to the password

Disable the password from the Registry

    Navigate to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\INTEL\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\AdministratorOnly\Security\UseVPUninstallPassword

Change the value to 0 from 1

And this will disable the password

You can get this utility 1 of 2 ways.

     Open a case via MySupport:

    https://mysupport.symantec.com/

    -or-

Call Symantec Technical Support directly to open a case and request the utility:

right so i have to call the Symantec support to get the tool.
Now when you said that whne installing sep over Sav it should uninstall the client, but that did not work in my case and thats where I am stucked I was going through the guide,
I did not know what i did wrong, when i was migrating the client on SEP it did recognise the clients and did show me the remote installation but it didnt do anything, the old SAV was still there.

Well thanks for Clearwipe and reg hack.

It may be because of uninstall passwrod.

Try to change the registry key and start the remote installation once again...

    The Current version is CleanWipe_v4.2

    Description about the same,

CleanWipe will remove all remnants of the following products from a computer:

     · Symantec Endpoint Protection
     · Symantec AntiVirus
     · Symantec Client Security
     · Symantec Sygate Enterprise Protection
     · Symantec Network Access Control
     · Norton AntiVirus
     · Symantec System Center
     · Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

Note: The following cautions apply to the use of CleanWipe:

    - CleanWipe removes all of the listed applications.  You cannot select individual applications to remove.

    - CleanWipe may also remove LiveUpdate.

    - CleanWipe may also remove Virus Definitions.

    - If you have other Symantec applications on the computer that depend on any of the applications listed above, those applications may not function properly.  You need to reinstall the missing applications after you run CleanWipe.

    :)

    Hi all

Thanks you for helping me out, I have uninstalled all client with only entering password. I want able to uninstall that wasn't because I had uninstalled the server, that was because some IDIOT created a computer group policy..

    thanks
