  • 1.  Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 9.0.3.1000 with Windows 7 problems

    We just loaded Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 9.0.3.1000 on a new machine with Windows 7, and received an error that there was a compatibility issue with Windows (didn't say Windows 7, just Windows).  Also, in the control panel/security it says "Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition is on but is reporting its status to Windows Security Center in a format that is no longer supported.  Use the program's automatic updating feature, or contact the program manufacturer for an updated version".  Further, when I click to "enable" antivirus program, it will not enable - it tries for a second, but will not enable.  Also, the live update will not do anything.

    I've been all over the Symantec site and can't find what the culprit might be.  I'm stumped, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Symantec antivirus 9.0 is not support on windows 7 only these are supported, its not compatible

    Symantec AntiVirus client for 32-bit computers
    Symantec AntiVirus clients for 32-bit computers have the following requirements:
    • Windows 98/98 SE/Me; Windows NT 4.0 Workstation/Server/Terminal Server with Service Pack 6a; Windows 2000 Professional/Server/Advanced Server; Windows XP Home/Professional/Tablet PC; Windows Server 2003 Web/Standard/Enterprise/Datacenter (including Service Pack 1)
    • System requirements for Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 9.0

     Symantec Endpoint protection 11.5 is compatible with Win7

    Currently there will not be Windows 7 support for SAVCE 9.0

    Could I upgrade to a compatible version, at least for this one computer (i.e. w/o putting the virus protection on the network)? Would it need to be a corporate version, and what version would be compatible?  Thanks much!

    If you want it just for one system then you can go for
    Symantec endpoint protection version 11.0.5
    or Norton Internet Security 2010

    Would it need to be a corporate version, and what version would be compatible? 
    You can install SEP 11.0.5
